At MNU, we’re committed to growing to become more and more like Jesus. This certainly happens as we come together for chapel and in small groups. However, it is our conviction that in order to become like Jesus, you have to join Jesus in loving the world. Each week our students serve in a variety of ways around Olathe and the Kansas City area. This might look like mentoring a child at an elementary school, delivering food to those who are food-insecure, caring for creation or joining with organizations like The Hope Center in downtown Kansas City. Students who participate in one of our “Go Groups” receive 1 Spiritual Formation Credit each time they serve. Interested in joining us? Click the link below.

DESCRIPTION
This Go Group is unique because it changes nearly every week. As a group MNU students meet in the College Church parking lot on and walk over to Havencroft Elementary together. Each week this group serves as classroom helpers where they often read one on one with students, help teachers complete a variety of tasks, or just serve as an extra pair of hands.
*Participants in Wednesdays at Havencroft must attend training on Wednesday, January 22nd at 11 AM Weatherby Chapel. (This training is for any student who has not previously attended this event.)

DESCRIPTION
Volunteers involved in Lunch Buddies individually meet and eat lunch with students from Havencroft Elementary School. As a part of this group, MNU students will establish a weekly time slot to meet with your Lunch Buddy. You will get to be a consistent role model and friend in a child’s life.
*Participants in Lunch Buddies must attend training on Wednesday, January 22nd at 11 AM Weatherby Chapel. (This training is for any student who has not previously attended this event.)

DESCRIPTION
This group focuses on loving our world by caring for God’s creation. Each week, students hear a short devotional, go around campus gathering the content of recycling bins, all while connecting with each other. As a part of this group, you will get to serve the campus and the earth by encouraging and assisting recycling at MNU.

DESCRIPTION
Student involved with the Hope Center will help with the after-school program by coloring, singing, dancing, reading, and playing games with students in K-5th grade. As a part of this group, you will come alongside the Hope Center staff to provide a caring and learning environment for children You will get to build relationships with kids and have fun at The Hope Center!

DESCRIPTION
Students involved with Deliveries & Devos drive, pick up, and deliver “back snacks” for students in Olathe to take home over the weekend. This helps ensure that children with food insecurity get nutrition over the weekend. During the drive, this group participates in a devotional study with fellow passengers.

DESCRIPTION
Students who volunteer with Homework Huddle head to Mission Southside right here in Olathe. While there, they tutor students in varying grades and subjects, as they spend time getting to know the kids. As a part of this group, you will get to help students succeed while also building consistent relationships with them.

Interested in reliving some of your childhood? Volunteers for this Go Group spend time with students from Havencroft Elementary School building Legos. MNU students often interact with the same kids each week and invest in the lives of these children through creativity and conversation.
